Blood Region is a Korpi-Metal band from the dark woods of Finland playing traditional melodic metal with influences from different genres. The band described to me the term “Korpi” metal and what it means. In the words of Blood Region : “Wilderness”/Backwoods” Metal in translation.We´ve used this term to underline the soul of the band,we´ve all grown in the small town in the middle of the woods in Finland,where we learnt to play and rehearse in mystic rehearsal places:) So its kinda of our own thing term just to remind that our music has roots in blood and region,that certain isolation and presence of countryside. We´ve done this with our own style though musically we´ve not done anything “new” so to speak,our expression has a real diversity and richness taking inspiration from many genres but still having respect for the bands we´ve listened when we were young.Our music has this own sound” The new release is entitled “For All The Fallen Heroes” It and is available on Inverse Records !! “WHISPERED” the masters of ‘Samurai Metal’ are back with third album “Metsutan – Songs of the Void”, released on May 20th through Redhouse FMP / Inverse Records. The album is a complex masterpiece, fusing traditional Japanese instruments and atmospheres with Scandinavian melodic death metal. It’s not every band whose unique style of metal can coin a new term but Finland’s Whispered aren’t interested in playing by the rules. Melding northern melodic metal, nuances from Japanese folk and even the odd idea from a video game soundtrack and voila ‘samurai metal’!! The band was formed in 2004 by vocalist and guitarist Jouni Valjakka , whose influences and love for Japan are clearly evident in the unique Whispered sound using traditional Japanese instruments like shamisen, shakuhachi and koto that perfectly compliment metal music. Valjakka, along with Mikko Mattila – guitar, Kai Palo – bass, Jussi Kallava – drums, are the high powered METAL engine that powers this monster !! Whispered released their debut album Thousand Swords in 2010, followed by Shogunate Macabre in 2014, which was darker than its predecessor, introducing a more brutal sound without forgetting the melodic and symphonic aspects. The lyrics revolved around Japanese mythology, ghosts and bushido. With the release of “Metsutan-Songs Of The Void”, the bands name will not only be “WHISPERED”, but shouted worldwide !!
